Abbey Road On The River is a 3-Day, Multi-Stage Live Music & Art Festival honoring the music, love & spirit of John, Paul, George & Ringo. The festival, which has been called "The biggest event of its kind in North America", was first held in Cleveland, OH in 2002 at the Nautica Pavilion & Entertainment Complex, then moved to it's new home at the Kentucky Center & Belvedere Festival Park in Louisville, KY in 2005. This page features some of the photos & memories from all of Peter's appearances at this Fab festival.

AROTR `02 - Aug. 9, 10 & 11, 2002 - Cleveland, OH

The first Abbey Road On The River (AROTR) was held in Cleveland, Ohio at the new Nautica Pavilion and Entertainment Complex on the Cuyahooga river. Over 25 bands & solo artists were scheduled to perform over the 3 day weekend, including Peter, who was invited by promoter Gary Jacob to perform "Goodbye George" during Saturday's "Tribute To George Harrison" show. The tribute featured George's sister Louise Harrison as the Honored Special Guest and the the fantastic Canadian band All You Need Is Love, backing up the various "George's" from all of the tribute bands performing at AROTR that year.

On Fri. Aug. 9, 2002 Peter & Judy arrived at AROTR, around 3:00 pm, and the first person that they ran into and met was Louise Harrison, George's sister. She is a most gracious lady and a real pleasure to talk to. Peter got to spend some quality time with her throughout the weekend, talking about several topics, including Self-Reliazition &  George (of course). Peter's first performance at the 1st AROTR was Friday night at Desmond & Molly's Patio where he performed from 10:00 pm until 11:00 pm. At 9:00am Sat. morning, Peter & Judy arrived at the Nautica Pavillion for the "Tribute To George Harrison" rehearsals, which ran late due to temperamental egos, (who shall remain nameless). However, an unplugged, acoustic rehearsal of "Goodbye George", with the Canadian band All You Need Is Love, did take place in the back stage dressing room, about an hour before the tribute began. Later in the afternoon, at 2:00 pm, Peter was in the We Hope We Passed The Audition” contest held on the Desmond & Molly's Patio stage, with Louise as one of the judges. Peter performed his own arrangements of “Help!” & “Wait”, but unfortunately did not make the finals that year.

TRIBUTE TO GEORGE HARRISON - Sat. 9:00 pm

All You Need Is Love, opened the "Tribute To George Harrison" on the Nautica Pavillion stage at 9:00 pm performing their special "Summer Of Love Meets The White Album" set. Just prior to their performance, the unplugged "Goodbye George" rehearsal had taken place in the backstage dressing room. After the rehearsal, Peter then sat and talked with Louise and her assistant Judy, in the dressing room for about an hour. At 10:00pm, Peter went onstage, and with All You Need Is Love backing him up, performed "Goodbye George" to a very receptive audience of approx. 3,000 Beatles/George fans. After Peter's song, Louise came onstage and received a special recognition award from the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and the City Of Cleveland, OH. After the presentation, Peter spent another 1/2 hour with Louise in the backstage  dressing room talking about her award, George & the Beatles, while the show continued with all of the George’s from the many tributes bands, rocking the crowd with solo & Beatle Harrisongs, backed up by the fantastic All You Need Is Love.

AROTR `03 - Aug. 8, 9 & 10, 2003 - Cleveland, OH

On Fri. at 2:00 pm, Peter (guitar/vocals), Ira Krime (drums/vocals) & Michael McRavage (bass/vocals) were the first act to perform at the 2nd AROTR fest on the Tangerine Trees stage, which was also the first stage that people heard and saw as they came into the festival. At the end of their set, Andy Forgie from All You Need Is Love came onstage and sang with the band on "All You Need Is Love " and "Goodbye George".  The songs performed that day and again on Sat. at noon were: "You Know What To Do", "Help!", "Any Road", "Dark Horse", "Handle With Care", "In My Life", "Photograph", "Goodbye George", "Beware Of Darkness", "Old Brown Shoe", "Something" & "All You Need Is Love".  These two shows were Ira’s only AROTR appearances and he would often tell people that it was one of his favorite gigs that he played. Sadly, Ira passed away from this material world on Feb. 20, 2006 at the age of 54.

Later that afternoon on Sat. just prior to the "We Hope We Passed The Audition" contest on the Desmond & Molly’s Stage, Peter got a chance to chat with Louise Harrison who was once again one of the judges for the contest. A month later, Louise invited Peter to perform in Benton, IL at her "It Was 40 Years Ago Today" benefit show, to commemorate George's 1st visit to the USA in 1963. For this contest, Peter performed his own arrangement of "All You Need Is Love” in the contest and became one of the five finalists to compete on Sunday on the Nautica Pavilion stage.

The "We Hope We Passed The Audition" finals were held on Sunday on the main Nautica Pavilion stage at 4:30 in the afternoon. Peter performed his own arrangement of "All You Need Is Love” to a crowd of approx. 2,000 Beatle fans. The winners that year were Sam & Ken (later to become known as Two Of Us), an acoustic duo from Pennsylvania. After the contest on Sunday, Peter & Judy spent the rest of the afternoon listening to several bands and visited with former Beatles promoter Sam Leach, from Liverpool.

AROTR `04 - Aug. 6, 7 & 8, 2004 - Cleveland, OH

For the 3rd AROTR, the location was moved from the Nautica Entertainment Pavilion to Cleveland’s Public Hall Auditorium & Mall B Complex in downtown Cleveland, OH. Peter's first performance that year was on the Labatt Blue Meanies stage at 2:00pm. Among the first people that Peter & Judy met at that year were, John & Claire MacCarfrae from Liverpool, England. John conducted the "All You Need Is Success" motivational seminars throughout the weekend and after his first session, John invited Peter to provide the music during the rest of his seminars. He also played tambourine on several of Peter’s solo sets during the weekend, and the following year played tambourine for Peter in Liverpool at the Cavern Club! On Saturday, Peter was invited to sing with last year's "We Hope We Passed The Audition" contest winners, Sam & Ken (aka Two Of Us), on one of their sets and they in turn sang on several of Peter’s set’s.

On Sun. morning, Peter & fellow AROTR performer Gary Lee, provided the music for John MacCarfrae’s, "All You Need Is Success" seminar at Cleveland's Public Hall auditorium, which was the same stage that The Beatles played on in 1964! Performing there was a thrill for all three of them and they spent lots of time exploring the backstage area before the show began and used the same dressing room which The Beatles themselves might have used. During the 3 days Peter performed a total of 10 times as a solo artist, with Two Of Us and with MacCarfrae’s seminars! The primary set list he performed throughout the weekend was: "You Know What To Do", "Handle With Care", "I Need You", "If I Needed Someone", "Dark Horse", "Any Road", "Give Me Love", "Goodbye George", "Beware Of Darkness", "Isn't It A Pity", "Help!", "In My Life”, "All You Need Is Love"  and many, many  impromptu requests from the audience.

AROTR - May 27, 28 & 29, 2005 - Louisville, KY

May became the ultimate Fab month for Peter & Judy. For 2 weeks, from May 1-14, 2005, P & J vacationed in England, where Peter performed at "The Cavern Club" in Liverpool again with John MacCarfrae on tambourine. P&J also had personal guided tours of "The Casbah Club" by Roag Best, brother of Pete Best and of "The Jacaranda" by owner Peter Antonio.  While in London, they went to "Abbey Road Studios" then had coffee and a chat with former Beatles engineer, Jeff Jarrett. After returning home to the US, and just a week and a half later, on Wed, May 25, Peter saw The Pete Best Band perform at "The Basement" in Columbus, OH. This was the night before P & J were to leave for AROTR `05 in it’s new location at the Kentucky Center & Belvedere Festival Park in Louisville, KY!
