PETER CONRAD'S MUSICAL TIME-LINE BIOGRAPHY
Musical Training: Peter (PMC) began playing the guitar in 1964 after seeing The Beatles on "The Ed Sullivan Show". After that, he took a couple of guitar lessons but, really learned to play the guitar with the help of the Mel Bay guitar/chords book & his friend Mike "Flash" Foster, another Beatle fan. They had "performed" together in the 6th grade in a group called The "Fake" Beatles, lip-syncing to Beatle records, while dressed in suits, wigs & home-made replicias of the Fab's guitars. They each went on to form & join seperate bands thru-out their high school years, but still got together often and to teach each other new guitar chords & songs. In 1978, after Flash got out of the Navy, he invited PMC to join his new group, The Top Hat Band. They played together in 5 more bands after that until 1994, when he became a solo acoustic performer. For 8 years, from 1997 to 2005, he hosted over 500 acoustic & electric "Open Stages" in the Columbus area & performed approx. 1,000 gigs as a solo performer & w/ PCB (The Peter Conrad Band). Early Musical Influences: The Chipmunks, Jimmy ("Froggy Went A-Courtin") Rodgers, 'The Smothers Brothers, The Kingston Trio & TV theme songs Major Musical Influences: bands: The "Bristish Invasion era", The Beatles, The Traveling Wilburys, Rolling Stones, The Who, The Faces, Badfinger & Cheap Trick solo artists: George Harrison, John Lennon & early Elvis guitarists: George Harrison, Eric Clapton & Pete Townsend bass players: Paul McCartney, John Entwistle, Jack Bruce & Stanley Clarke
