IRA KRIME 1951 - 2006
IRA KLEIN (aka: Ira Krime) left this material world on Feb. 20, 2006 at the age of 55. This page is in tribute and loving memory of a damn fine drummer and a very dear friend!! IRA KRIME performed with many musicians and bands over the years, including playing tabla drums for RICHIE HAVENS in New York City. Ira's favorite and possibly most succesful band was MIDNIGHT TAXI, based in Oakland, CA, who performed all over the San Francisco Bay area. In July of 2002, he came to Columbus, OH and after looking in the local entertainment papers, went to the Dolphin Lounge in Gahanna, OH for the Saturday Night "Electric" Open Stage, looking to share his chops & skills with other like minded musicians. After sitting in with several musicians sets at the Dolphin, Ira was invited become the house drummer for the open stage on Saturday's with host PETER CONRAD and on Thursday nights with hostess TIFFANY HUTIRA. He officially joined the Peter Conrad Band (PCB) in 2003 and was their permanent drummer until his passing. In August of 2003 he performed at one of his all time favorite gigs, Abbey Road On The River, ("The largest 3 day Beatles festival in North America") in Cleveland, OH along with Peter on guitar & MICHAEL McRAVAGE on bass guitar. In 2005, Ira contributed drums, percussion & tabla tracks for Peters 2nd solo CD, "Half Alive" and also laid down several drum tracks for Safe @ Home producer Joel Guild.
